Hamlyn Williams is partnered with a venture backed biotech, seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically rigorous Research Associate/Scientist to plan and execute production and analytical characterization of their growing pipeline of bioconjugate and antibody/peptide/oligo-based therapeutics. This role will be integral to evaluating our current candidates and expanding their pipeline by supporting production, purification, and characterization across platforms.

You will join a diverse team of Molecular Engineers and work cross-functionally with the goal of evaluating preclinical candidates. Successful applicants will bring experience in bioconjugation, biologic purification strategies, and analytical method development to join a research and development team that innovates rapidly to expand the company's platform.

This role will be on-site in Los Angeles and will target between $90k and 110k base before benefits.

Key Responsibilities

· Execute bioconjugation reactions, participating in both proof-of-concept first-tests as well as reaction optimization.

· Perform biologic purification, spanning a range of therapeutic modalities and scales.

· Develop analytical methods with the aim of characterizing products as well as understanding key properties (e.g. stability, solubility).

· Keep high-quality data records and provide clear communication of results.

· Maintain personal and shared inventories of materials generated and materials characteristics.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, biology, in vivo, and CMC teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and/or data for decision-making.

Basic Qualifications

· M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.

· 0–6 years of experience, preferably in an industry setting, in bioconjugation, biologics purification, and analytical method development

· Hands-on experience with bioconjugation.

· Hands-on experience with HPLC method development.

· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with multiple conjugation chemistries for small molecules, antibodies, peptides, and oligonucleotides.

· Experience with protein engineering or organic synthesis

· Proficiency in Agilent OpenLab software.

· Familiarity with tech transfer readiness for early-stage CMC.

· General knowledge of various techniques used in the characterization and evaluation of biopharmaceuticals, including mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance, cell-based assays, and PK/PD readouts.

· Comfortable navigating a startup environment with evolving infrastructure and high ownership expectations.
