Sr. Security Architect

Position Summary:
The Security Architect is responsible for assessing, designing, and implementing secure systems that protect the organization’s data, applications, and digital assets. This role ensures that security requirements are embedded across enterprise architecture—spanning reference models, segment and solution architectures—and that they align with industry standards and regulatory frameworks. As a subject matter expert, the Security Architect may also provide technical leadership and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Design Secure Solutions
- Plan, research, and architect secure, scalable systems to protect critical business functions.
- Collaborate with enterprise, solution, and platform architects to embed security controls into system designs.
- Evaluate and test security architectures to validate effectiveness and alignment with business and regulatory needs.
- Document the security components of enterprise architecture, including principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Threat Analysis and Risk Mitigation
- Monitor emerging security threats and identify vulnerabilities in current or proposed systems.
- Recommend and design architecture components to address new and evolving security threats.
- Evaluate existing architectures and propose improvements to reduce risk exposure.
Needs Assessment and Strategy Development
- Translate business requirements and regulatory conditions into secure architectural designs.
- Develop and recommend security strategies, design patterns, and authentication protocols across products and services.
- Conduct security assessments and support the development of secure solutions based on approved architectures.
Standards Development and Governance
- Establish and promote security architecture standards and secure configuration guidelines.
- Drive adoption of cybersecurity frameworks and practices across the organization.
- Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and influence adoption of security models aligned with industry and compliance standards.
Additional Duties
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures as required.
- Stay current with industry best practices and cybersecurity trends.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Four (4) years of relevant IT architecture experience may substitute for a degree.
- Has strong experience working with Azure and AWS
- Has strong application development and cloud concepts
- Preferred Certifications:
- TOGAF 9
- Open CA
- CISSP-ISSAP
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise security architectures.
- Strong background in IT risk assessment and mitigation.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies and secure software design principles.
