A banking client of ours is looking for a BSA Officer to take on a role, to be based in Michigan. This will be a remote role in the short term, but any candidates outside of the local area would need to move to the area in the near future. In this role, you will have 5 direct reports and 25 in-direct also across AML Investigations, QA, EDD, BSA Operations.

Job Summary 

The BSA Officer is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of the corporate-wide BSA Compliance Program.  This position monitors compliance with state and federal laws and regulations (including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, AML, and OFAC). The BSA Officer will report to the Chief Risk Officer and the Board of Directors.


  • Develop and/or revise BSA/AML and OFAC policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Perform overarching program maturity analysis and develop strategic plan for compliance with outstanding regulatory actions
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations
  • Develop and implement risk assessment methodology for ongoing assessment of BSA/AML and OFAC risk exposures
  • Oversee BSA/AML and OFAC functions, including BSA Operations, AML Investigation, High Risk Customer Due Diligence, and Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, including regulatory examiners, during audits and examinations to provide requested information as well as interim consultation
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC
  • Conduct regular training for the Board of Directors and staff on BSA-AML policies and procedures
  • Inform and advise Executive Management and the Board of Directors regarding conditions and status of Bank adherence to laws and regulations


  • BA degree is a MUST, (a Masters or JD would be preferred)  
  • 10+ years’ BSA experience, including previous role as a BSA Officer is a MUST
  • CAMS certification is required
  • Experience in managing a BSA program of at least 25 people is needed
