Data Warehouse Engineer

As our Data Warehouse Engineer, you will focus on the acquisition of data, the flow of data through our system, and analysing our data warehouses' architecture. You will help design and implement these systems and will interact with teams on both ends of the data flow. This is a permanent position based in Hamburg.

The Data Warehouse Engineer will ideally have the following responsibilities:

  • Design and implement relational and dimensional models in Snowflake
  • Design, build and support stable, scalable data pipelines or ETL processes that cleanse, structure, and integrate data sets from multiple data sources into Snowflake and provision to transactional systems and Business Intelligence reporting
  • Collaborate with other teams on normalizing and aggregating large data sets based on business needs and requirements
  • Work on different databases (Snowflake, SQL Server, MySQL, NoSQL)
  • Work with different data formats (JSON, CSV, Parquet, Avro) and interact with various on-premises and cloud data sources as well as RESTful APIs
  • Implement systems for tracking data quality and consistency.

The Data Warehouse Engineer will ideally have at least 75% of the below skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field
  • 5 years of experience in a data warehousing or data engineering role and 2+ years of experience in Snowflake or similar data warehouse systems
  • Very strong SQL skills and experience
  • Strong programming experience in Python
  • Knowledge and expertise in system performance and optimization, schema design, and capacity planning
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain data warehousing and ETL workflows for large data sets and interact with various sources
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience with Data Modelling Tools like SqlDBM, Erwin
    • Experience in any of the following frameworks Airflow, Lungi, Singer
    • Experience in any of ETL Tools Informatica, Talend, Matillion etc
