Overview

We have partnered with a U.S.-based consulting company with multiple offices across the United States. They are currently seeking DevOps specialists to join their expanding Cloud and DevOps team. Because this is a growing team, its members have the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping their practice by providing world-class expertise to clients as well as contributing thought leadership internally. Consultants in this role should thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment with a mindset of organizational growth.

As a Cloud/DevOps Consultant, you will design and implement tools that automate common workflows for customers, enabling teams to collaborate as efficiently and productively as possible. You will work across operations, development, test, and security to automate infrastructure configuration, provisioning, builds, and deployments. Your work will involve both on-premises and cloud computing resources.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Understand and spread DevOps principles, practices, and transformation concepts to customers
  • Solve complex, hands-on challenges and perform research when dealing with unknowns
  • Spearhead DevOps focused workshops including storyboarding, whiteboard design, and joint problem solving with a customer
  • Implement logical diagrams for a proposed solution that will enable the business objectives/use cases
  • Guide our customers to support full end to end automation of software delivery (CI/CD)
  • Train and mentor others on building solutions and smart developer behaviors (CI/CD/DDD/TDD/BDD)
  • Push patterns and practices to minimize future technical debt
  • Leading DevOps tool automation across IT operations, infrastructure, QA, security, compliance, and development teams
  • Provide thought leadership on the selection, implementation, and use of DevOps CI/CD automation tools
  • Contribute approaches, roadmaps, resources, and budget estimates in support of delivering envisioned work
  • Implement and script with continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.
  • Pursue to create continuous delivery pipeline to automatically push code through the environments

 

Experience & Qualifications

  

  • 5+ years of consulting experience with DevOps tool chain automation
  • 2+ years of IT development, operations, and/or infrastructure management experience
  • 4+ years total development experience
  • 4+ years of client facing work
  • 4+ years of work in the DevOps, CI/CD space (build/deploy pipelines, IaaC/Environment/Test automation)
  • 1+ years of working in agile, lean, or iterative teams
  • Experience as a Principal Architect with focus on DevOps and/or Cloud experiences
  • Tolerant of ambiguity (frequent change, unresolved situations)
  • Able to work in high-profile, potentially stressful customer environment
  • 50-75% travel availability (75% preferred)
  • Excellent and precise interpersonal and communication skills (Your resume should be no more than 3 pages)
  • Senior level consulting experience with sales engineer duties in support of business development
  • Experience providing technical guidance during DevOps transformations
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Required

  • Ticket/Defect tracking Systems (JIRA, Rally, or similar tools)
  • Build Systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar tools)
  • Deployment Automation Systems (Jenkins, Urbancode Deploy, or similar tools)
  • Automated Testing/Quality (SonarQube, Cucumber, jUnit, and similar tools)
  • IT Infrastructure, Operations, and Development practices
  • Agile practices such as Scrum, SAFe, and Lean
  • AWS or Azure Certification is a plus
