We are seeking an outstanding compliance leader to join the fast-growing team as Head of Compliance / Money Laundering Reporting Officer for Lithuania. This role will be responsible for overseeing compliance with the Lithuania AML / CTF Law, as well as markets regulation (European Markets Infrastructure Regulation, Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) and other regulatory regimes where applicable. You will also manage compliance matters covering AML, Counter-Terrorism Financing, Fraud Prevention and Sanctions.

This role will be based remotely within Lithuania - following Regulatory guidelines the successful candidate must reside in the country.

The role:

Run the Compliance program. Develop and oversee the compliance framework strategically, and ensure compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures systematically across the business products end to end. 

  • Own and maintain Lithuania’s regulatory program's governance, operating model and processes across financial crimes prevention, markets regulatory and central compliance functions
  • Own and deliver strategic cross-functional compliance and other initiatives, including scope, resourcing, and budget
  • Assist to obtain and maintain required licensing
  • Act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer - be the senior contact who maintains a constructive and open dialogue with the Bank of Lithuania, other regulators and law enforcement authorities
  • Ensure that regulatory examinations, reporting and enquiries are handled appropriately and promptly
  • Ensure timely and proper communication with and timely reporting to the Lithuanian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), submit suspicious activity reports to and respond to requests for information
  • Ensure employees are familiarized with AML/CTF framework, and all related company’s internal documentation
  • Ensure the proper implementation of Know Your Customer requirements in the company’s activities, including proper assessment of client’s identification documents, collection of their copies, record keeping, etc. and that they are compliant with requirements and procedures set by laws
  • Ensure implementation of transaction monitoring procedures
  • Ensure that AML/CTF framework is revised and updated (if needed) on a regular basis (at least once per year)
  • Ensure that ML/TF prevention measures applied by the company are properly integrated in the company’s internal control system
  • Be responsible for writing, updating and maintaining the company’s procedures and other documents related to ML/TF prevention area 
  • on fraud prevention and AML compliance in a rapid growth environment
  • Serve as the point person who ensures timely execution on audits 
  • Oversee testing and quality assurance of adherence to policies, procedures, requirements 
  • Oversee management information reporting for the Chief Compliance Officer and management regarding effectiveness of the compliance risk management framework, oversee execution of improvement plans 
  • Oversee risk assessments and risk appetite statements plus metrics to measure performance 
  • Develop and track action plans across regulatory initiatives
  • Oversee compliance training. Organise and ensure ongoing employee education in ML/TF area, including organisation of trainings for employees related to identifying suspicious activity, understanding of customer identification, record keeping requirements
  • Maintain active dialogue with crypto compliance community to inform best practice
  • Conduct investigations when needed with senior management 
  • Fulfill all other functions and duties that are assigned to MLRO under AML/CTF framework, other company’s internal procedures and resolutions of company’s bodies.


  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in financial crimes compliance at a regulated financial institution or a consultancy firm
  • Minimum of 5 years of team and people management experience
  • Experience developing compliance frameworks while leveraging technology 
  • Markets and investment management compliance advantageous, not essential
  • Excellent knowledge of money laundering regulations essential
  • Experience working to improve onboarding processes integrated across front office and operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, organizational and time management skills
