Hamlyn Williams have partnered with a leading proprietary trading firm with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the heart of its business. Our client is looking for you to join as their Trading Compliance Officer. They offer a challenging learning opportunity in a high-energy business environment. Your day will start with the morning stand-up meeting with the team to get the latest updates and items requiring attention. After that, on set days, you ensure that the regulatory reports are properly completed and sent out. During the rest of the day, you will be working on ad hoc requests from Trading, implementation of compliance projects together with our Technology department or preparing for a response to an information request from an exchange or regulator. After the working day, you may want to head to the gym for a workout or down to the bar to have a drink and/or play some ping-pong or pool with colleagues.

As a Trading Compliance Officer you will:

  • Share ownership of several reporting processes (MiFID II transaction and trade reporting, commodity derivative position reporting, SFTR, EMIR) with your teammates
  • Propose and implement ways to improve day-to-day compliance, reporting and monitoring processes and controls
  • Continuously look for improvements of the existing tools and work with the technology department to ensure they work as intended
  • Collect and analyze information for investigations, inquiries and audits, both internal and external
  • Sign off on the implementation of the business requirements
  • Support the implementation of current and new trading rules & regulations


As a Trading Compliance Officer you will need:

  • Several years of relevant work experience running processes involving large amounts of data
  • Experience facing external stakeholders and managing their expectations
  • You know your way around programming with Python and SQL
  • Excellent Excel skills, VBA is a plus
  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science or similar
  • Basic understanding of financial products and markets
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written
  • An inquisitive learner who likes to get to the bottom of things
  • An independent self-starter with high regard to company policies and regulatory framework
  • Personality that thrives in a fast-paced environment and fits in an Agile company culture
  • A problem solver who likes to get things done
  • The ability to translate regulatory requirements to technical specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail
